Our Vision: By 2018, Mukti Fund will have established and supported a vibrant national network of Queer Youth Theaters empowering these youth to fulfill their full potential. To a large extent, this vision has materialized!
Queer Youth Theater Fund, Annual Grants
The Queer Youth Theater Fund, 2009 – 2017, made grants to QYT organizations in the United States and Canada. Funds support projects or general operations of QYT programs that enhance the Mukti Fund vision of empowering queer youth by their writing, directing, or acting in performance pieces. Many three year grants were made, giving these theater companies a more secure financial base. QYT grants totaled $1,764,000.
Pride Youth Theater Alliance
Funds were available for proposals which furthered a national network of Queer Youth Theaters, including the QYT Directors Conference. This annual conference started in 2010 continues to this day and now includes young people.
Queer Youth Theater Incubator Fund
The QYF Incubator Fund was established to expand the national outreach of QYTs, particularly in underserved areas. Many of these new theaters continue today!
